As Dimensional's head of international portfolio management in London, Akbar Ali oversees global equity portfolios managed for clients in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He sits on the London Investment Committee and is a member of Dimensional's Investment Policy Committee, which formulates strategy enhancements and develops new strategies. Akbar previously managed international equity portfolios on Dimensional's Santa Monica trading desk, with a focus on emerging markets and the firm's international applied core equity strategies. He regularly speaks on international investment topics with clients and at conferences.
Akbar came to Dimensional in 2002 after developing equity and fixed income strategies for high net worth clients at Goldman Sachs. Prior to that, he was senior technology officer at JP Morgan Chase, where he developed trading systems to manage fixed income derivatives. Akbar began his career at Bankers Trust, where he developed derivatives pricing software. He received his MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
